Valentine’s and this weeks Menu

Today has been a pretty good day. We went to our city library, which is just down the street from us, and checked out over 20 books. I have been secretly avoiding this library because I owed $6 in fines. This library doesn’t send out reminders when the books are due until after they are overdue. Lets just say my city library has made a little too much money off me :) While we were there, we attended bilingual story time, which Ethan found confusing, but overall I think they enjoyed it. For school time Ethan learned two words, “length and strength”, and read them in a couple of sentences. He also read a book to me called, “Just Like Daddy.” For math I just wrote some random addition problems on the white board to see if he knew them. He did pretty good. Other than that it has been a day of free play outside (kids willingly pulling my weeds :) ) and they got to watch Blues Clues which they checked out from the library.

Starting tomorrow we are going to start a unit for Valentines based off the book “The Valentine Cat.” The unit comes with ideas for a lapbook, so we will be doing one of those too. Visit www.homeschoolshare.com and the unit is here.

I am going to try to do the Menu Plan Monday. So here it is:

Monday: The Best Lasagna, salad ( I use less salt than this recipe calls for)

Tuesday: Sweet and Sour Meatballs , rice and broccoli

Wednesday: Black beans and rice, salad, fruit

Thursday: Leftover Lasagna that I made in another pan ready to put in the oven

Friday: Chicken with bacon and cheese on top, potatoes, salad (the link is for a sandwich, we are going to use nitrate free bacon (I am anal like that :) )

Saturday: Leftovers

Sunday: Not sure yet, probably will decide on Saturday

    Hey Crystal,

When you make black beans and rice, how do you make/season/prepare your beans? I am always looking for ways to use the beans in my food storage. Help! :)

Hey Crystal! Those recipes sound good - I didn’t know you are a PW fan - me too! I like the decorations you put up for V day (in the post below)!
